Welcome to Lakeside Health System
And welcome to our new website…
As I move through my second year as CEO of Lakeside Health System, I can honestly say that it is an honor and privilege to lead this exemplary organization. We have been presented with numerous challenges and faced them all head on. We are now faced with increasingly uncertain financial times and unprecedented State budget cuts specifically targeting reimbursement to Health Care organizations. As federal healthcare reform evolves we will also work hard to face the trials and tribulations of an evolving healthcare delivery system. We will not be passive. We will move forward and position our Health System for continued growth and success.
One of our main goals is physician recruitment. It is imperative for us to add to our already stellar medical staff. Dr. Roopa Korni recently joined us as we started a family practice in Spencerport. Dr. Didem Miraloglu has also joined us as we started an internal medicine practice in Brockport. Dr. Jon Gabel has joined Dr. Harris Silver as we continue to expand our orthopedic department. These are just a few of the great additions to our medical staff.
We also believe urgent care expansion will position our system well in the future. In July we opened our second urgent care center in LeRoy to join our Spencerport location. We were honored to have Congressman Christopher Lee join us for our ribbon cutting ceremony. The ceremony was the culmination of a great deal of work to include strategic planning as well as coordination with the New York State Department of Health to obtain approval to open the LeRoy center to bring high quality, low cost care to the residents of Genesee County. Both of our urgent care centers are open seven days a week and have on-site radiology services.
An integral aspect of federal healthcare reform planned to be implemented over the next several years is a focus on the provision of high quality care. Like all hospitals and long term care facilities across the country, LHS reports our quality data to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. In the first quarter of 2010 our quality compliance for the acute hospital care metrics ranked us in the top one percent of hospitals across the country. We are committed to bringing high quality healthcare to our community. Our compliance was 100% for heart attack and congestive heart failure care metrics. Our compliance for pneumonia and surgical care metrics were in the top ten percent. These quality metrics are a testament to the high caliber clinical, nursing and medical staff we have at LHS.
Our emergency department continues to thrive and grow. With that growth, the department also has experienced unprecedented patient satisfaction. Under the leadership of Dr. Steven Wolfe and Angie Jones-Brett, our emergency department has ranked number one in New York State for seven straight calendar quarters. Not only do we deliver high quality care, most patients are treated and released in ninety minutes or less.
And, continuing the tradition of community leadership, the Lakeside Foundation welcomes former presidential advisor David Gergen as the guest speaker at this year's Gala on December 10th at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. Mr. Gergen continues our legendary history of disinguished speakers for this preeminent fundraising event.
I invite you to browse our new website to see all that is available right here in your community. From all of us at Lakeside Health System, welcome!
