Radiology services are provided by Western New York Radiology Associates (WNYRA) offering the highest quality diagnostic examination and professional interpretation. Our technologists use the most advanced equipment to capture images digitally using a Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) that stores all images electronically. Our patients and physicians benefit with faster processing for quick diagnosis and treatment. A full spectrum of diagnostic imaging is available including:

  • X-ray – Capturing images of the body using radiation.

  • Ultrasound – Images of internal organs are produced by computerized recording of sound waves.

  • CT Scan - Two to three dimensional images are created by multiple high speed X-rays of the body.

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) - Images of the body's internal structures are produced by a computer recording radio waves created by a magnetic field.

  • Mammogram - Using low doses of radiation an X-ray image is taken of the inner breast tissue for early detection of breast cancer.

  • Nuclear Medicine – Small amounts of short lived radioactivity is injected, breathed or ingested into the body. Nuclear medicine cameras then capture images of internal organs by detecting the radioactive material to evaluate how organs are functioning.

  • Dexascan - A Dexascan or bone densitometry is an X-ray exam that uses a very low dose of radiation to measure the mineral content of the bones.

  • Fluroscopy – Real time x-ray of internal organs are taken by capturing images of barium sulfate ingested by the patient.

  • Biopsy – Guided by either a CT or Ultrasound image, a tissue sample is extracted from a lesion through a needle for pathologic evaluation.

  • Breast Needle Localization - A procedure whereby a needle with a wire is placed into the breast when the lump is difficult to locate or in areas that look suspicious on the mammogram. The surgeon then uses the path of the wire as a guide to locate the abnormal area to be remove.
