Philosophy of Patient Care
In concert with the mission, vision, and values of Lakeside Health System, the professional nursing staff of the Medical Surgical units 2 and 3 believes in providing the highest quality nursing care in a respectful, caring and healing environment. This approach embraces a continuum of services that encompasses the collegial relationships with all members of the health care team including, but not limited to, Medicine, Surgery, Case Management, Nutritional Services, Pharmacy, Respiratory, and Rehabilitative Services.  We believe excellence in nursing practice and collaborative interdisciplinary efforts are integral to facilitating the patient/family course toward a safe, efficient discharge back into the community.

Philosophy of Nursing

Lakeside Memorial Medical Surgical nurses believe that Nursing is an art and a science.  The heart of nursing is compassion and care for every individual as a holistic being with the right to respect, dignity, privacy and need for fulfillment.  The nurse has intellectual and technical competencies which are utilized in the nursing process.  Through this process the patient is assisted to maintain or regain the level of health appropriate to his/her development and/or disabled state or to experience a peaceful and dignified death.

Quality patient care is provided in a cost effective manner.  To achieve this, provisions are made for appropriate staffing, continuing education, availability of resource persons with clinical expertise, committee membership, and performance improvement activities.
